This project was all about blending vintage heritage with refined luxury, without compromising the rugged spirit that made the FJ40 a legend. From the hand-stitched leather interior to the stealthy custom audio and center console, every inch of this build was designed, shaped, and finished by hand.
Handcrafted Leather & Suede Interior
The heart of this transformation lies inside the cabin. We started by gutting the factory interior and rebuilding it from the floor up with a blend of premium full-grain leather and rich Alcantara-style suede. Every panel—dash, doors, seat trim, and headliner—was wrapped by hand, with precision stitching and custom piping for a clean yet classic look.
The seating layout was reimagined with bolstered bucket seats that strike a perfect balance between comfort and off-road functionality. The color palette was selected to nod to the FJ’s utilitarian roots, with a warm earth-tone leather and soft sand suede accents providing a rich, tactile contrast.
Custom Fabricated Center Console
At the center of the cabin is a fully fabricated, one-off center console designed for both form and function. Constructed to house a set of 6.5” speakers and wrapped in matching leather, the console houses custom cup holders, integrated charging ports, and hides the amplifier as well as the Bluetooth module that controls the audio.
Stealth Audio System with Modern Performance
To bring the sound system up to modern standards without cluttering the classic design, we installed a premium custom audio setup—completely hidden. A high-output amplifier and compact subwoofer were tastefully integrated into the interior panels, while component speakers were seamlessly mounted to give the very best sound quality possible. The head unit is a Bluetooth-integrated unit concealed in the center console, controlled wirelessly for a clean, vintage dash.
The result? Crisp, immersive audio that fills the cabin with sound—whether you're cruising the highway or climbing a rocky trail.
